3a World Cities

Los Angeles spans 469 square miles and is located in Southern California. Los Angeles County is one of the most densily populated counties in the United States. This city is world renound for Hollywood, the meca of movies stars and is best known for fame, fortune, glitz and glamour. Ususally if any young person has a dream of entering show business, they travel to Los Angeles for the "city of dreams", Hollywood. Los Angeles better known as L.A. is home to 12.9 million people who have converged from all over the world, thus allowing Los Angeles to boast that 224 foreign languages are spoken here.
In contrast San Francisco is only 231 square miles with a population of only 764,971 people.
San Francisco is known for being the gateway to the Pacific, with that title comes the largest Chinatown in the United Sates. San Francisco's populations is reffered to a "cosomopolitan" in a large part this is due to it's diversity both with cultures and ways of life. This city has micro cultures such as the Lesbian, Gay and Transgender community and then there is the famous "Haight St." which hosts "hippi throwbacks" and the new style "goth" or "emo" lifestyles.
Both cities have so much to offer as far as tourism or even just to call either of them "home".
